Celebrations

This year students can earn Golden Tickets when they are safe, respectful, or responsible at Escalante. Students turn their tickets into a classroom jar to earn agreed upon class and individual rewards when they fill it up. Ms. Gracie's 4th graders were our first class to fill their jar and celebrated with a pajama party! Let's keep up the good work, Escalante.

Attendance Matters

Blue Tickets: Come to school every day
Yellow Tickets: Be on time every day

Tickets are entered into a raffle box - two lucky winners will be drawn for a special prize!

Grade Level Challenge: Each week, grade-level attendance percentages are posted and updated. The grade level with the most improved attendance will be recognized as the GOAT with a special trophy! 
Escalante Spirit Week: Aug 31 - Sept 4, featuring five days of adventure with themed dress-up days.

Spirit Week

Five Days of Adventure
Monday - Deep Sea Diving: Wear blue, teal, or green — or bring pool/snorkel gear (goggles, flippers, floaties). No swimsuits. 
Tuesday - Jungle Trek: Animal print, safari hat, khaki/green/brown clothes — bring a stuffed animal “sidekick.”
Wednesday - Space Exploration: White/grey clothes, silver or foil accessories, glow sticks, star stickers, aluminumfoil “astronaut” gear. 
Thursday - Exploring Literature: Dress as a book character (costume or a simple clue-based outfit) OR bring a favorite book. 
Friday - Explorers Assemble!: Wear school colors: red, blue, or gold. Add a backpack, hat, sunglasses, or binoculars — ready for an expedition!

Collaboration: Two Ways to Get Involved with Escalante

We have two family groups that participate in very important ways at Escalante. We would love to have you join us for SCC and/or PTA this year.
SCC: Sept 8th 3:30-4:30
PTA: Sept 8th 4:30-5:30

SCC

Our School Community Council meets once a month and discussing topics like: student safety, our school improvement plan, and LAND Trust funds. It is also a place where families can bring up topics they would like to have discussed at the school level.

PTA

PTA meets once a month and supports the school in a variety of ways like teacher recognition, and student celebrations.

Literacy Corner: Building Early Literacy at Home

Alliteration games support phonemical awareness by helping students identify the first sound of a word. Alliteration is when multiple words begin with the same sound.

Games to play at home:
  • Ask your child to think of words to describe the objects they see. Tell your child the word used has to start with the same sound as the word they are describing.
Examples: “delicious donut,” “bouncy ball,” “green grass”
  • Play a game where you and your child take turns finding objects around the house to use in silly alliteration sentences. See who can use the most words beginning with the same sound in their sentence.
Example: “Sister’s stinky sock smells sour.”
 

Drop Off Reminder: Traffic Flow

Student safety is our number one concern. We have drop-off procedures in the parking lot that keep students safe and make it so they don't need to walk in front of moving cars. Please help out by following the guide below and always feel free to ask if you have questions. We appreciate your partnership in student safety!
  1. Drop-Off Lane (curbside only):
  • Students should be dropped off at the curb in the designated drop-off lane.
  • Please have students exit from the passenger side of the car so they do not need to cross in front of traffic.
  1. Drive-Through Lane:
  • The lane next to the drop-off lane is for driving through only.
  • Students should not be dropped off or picked up in this lane to prevent children from crossing in front of moving cars.
  1. Parking Stalls (North side of lot):
  • If you choose to park in a stall, please walk your student along the sidewalk until they are on the blacktop.
  • Students should not exit vehicles in the parking lot unless accompanied by a parent.
  1. Starcrest Drive - Exit Only:
  • Please remember this is an exit only. Cars entering here drive against traffic and create unsafe conditions.
